| The
way we derive our ranking is simple. Each member
submits a ballot with ten courses ranked 1 - 10.
Each course recieves points based on their
placement in each ballot, and the courses are
ranked by the number of points they recieve. Members:
Any member of the PGA 2000
community can become a member of the Dappawit
Course Ratings and take part in the voting. The
only requirements are that you:
- own PGA Championship
Golf 2000 by Sierra Sports, and...
- have a valid email
address.
(Only one member is allowed
per email address.)
When signing-up, a member
will be required to chose a member name. A
welcome message containing a unique password will
be sent to the user's email address. Both the
user name and password will be required to submit
a ballot.
The Ballot:
The ballot can be found on
this web site and consists of ten blanks, one for
each golf course in the ballot. Ten different
courses must be listed on a ballot, no courses
may be repeated.
Only one ballot per person,
per voting period, will be counted. If more than
one valid ballot is recieved, only the first will
be counted.
It should go without saying,
but in order to enter a course onto one's ballot,
the voter must have played at least one 18 hole
round in any conditions. Preferably, the voter
will have played the course a few times.
We also encourage members to
try as many courses as they can before deciding
which courses to vote for. And please expect your
ballot to change from voting period to voting
period. New courses will be released, and old
courses will re-emerge, so please be flexible.
The ballot must be completed
in full to be valid and counted in the ranking.
A link to the ballot will
appear on the main page of this site during the
voting period.
Course Eligibility:
User-created courses
released for PGA 2000 or PGA 99 are eligible for
the Dappawit Rating. Courses must also be
released before the voting period begins in order
to be eligible.
The real-life courses
included on the PGA 2000 and PGA 99 CDs are NOT
eligible for the Dappawit Ratings.
Any additional versions of a
course will supplant previous versions of a
course. The most updated version of a course is
eligible for the rating. Any previous versions of
a course listed on a ballot will be assumed to be
the most updated version, and will be counted as
such.
The Ranking:
The Dappawit Course Rating
is conducted every four weeks during a one week
period. The voting period will begin on a Sunday
and end the following Saturday. This allows
portions of two weekends to be used and allow our
members the best opportunity to vote. The ballots
will be counted as the voting continues, and the
final ranking will be released a few days after
the end of the voting period.
Courses are awarded points
based on their ranking in each ballot. Here is
the per-ballot point breakdown:

The ratings listing will
contain the following information:
Rank - The rank of the course based on
total points.
Total Points - The total points the course
recieved from all eligible ballots.
Ratings Index - The total points divided
by the number of ballots recieved. This rating is
a percentage and thus allows course ratings to be
compared from poll to poll.
Previous Rank and Previous Index -
The course's rank and ratings index in the
previous poll.
Other
Considerations:
Any ballots considered to be
fraudulent will not be counted in the poll.
Repeated violation of the rules will not be
tolerated, and members who do so may be subject
to expulsion from the Dappawit Course Rankings.
All ballots will be kept
confidential by Dapawit Course Ranking staff. Of
course, members are certainly welcome to reveal
their own votes on any of the many golf message
boards on the internet, or anywhere else they
choose.
Conclusion:
The Dappawit Course Rating
is not scientific or definitive. It is designed
for fun and the benefit of voters and other
members of the community. We hope that it
provides assistance to newcomers to PGA
Championship Golf in their selection of courses
to download. At the same time, however, just
because a course is not listed here does not mean
it is a bad course. There are plenty of excellent
courses available on the internet, and a true PGA
2000 player will choose to play a large number of
courses as they all provide a unique golf
experience.
